Debbie Furnell

Debbie's love of genealogy began as a teenager when she learned about information that her paternal grandmother had compiled.  Debbie is currently on the board for the Missouri State Genealogical Association (MoSGA) and is vice president for the Genealogical Society of Boone County and Central Missouri (GSCM).  She volunteers for her local Family History Center and the GSCM library. She is a member of several genealogical societies, and has presented on several topics at conferences and public libraries.

Teaching: 
A Real Beginner's Guide To The Use Of DNA In Genealogical Research - We will discuss companies and what tests they provide, as well as  the types of tests and what their limitations are. We will also discuss how much DNA we receive from our ancestors and how many generations back we can go. A case study will be presented using DNA and various books, blogs and other resources to learn more will be shared.
