Linda McCarty

Linda’s interest and involvement in family history reaches back to her childhood years as she listened to her grandfather talk of his childhood on the lawless (nearly) frontier in Nebraska.  In addition to her own family lines, she has researched family trees for families located from Maine to Oregon and Michigan to Texas. For more than ten years, she was the director of a family history center in Jefferson City, Missouri.  She is currently the editor of the Missouri State Genealogical Association’s quarterly journal.

Teaching:
Explore the World with the FamilySearch Catalog-  Learn effective techniques for using the FamilySearch Catalog to search for records with information about your ancestors and the times in which they lived.  The presenter will cover where to find the FamilySearch Catalog, how to use the eight search options and other sites to explore when you can’t find a record in the Catalog, such as the OCLC.  The class is appropriate to any skill-level audience, although those persons with less familiarity with the FamilySearch catalog may find it most beneficial.
